I would rank the four presidents below Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Johnson probably in the also ran category. Each had the opportunities to place the United States in a better position than it currently is. George H. Bush, presided over the first Savings and Loan crisis and failed to encourage congress to act in restoring some regulations which were removed to remove inflation and help the economy. His actions during Desert Storm gives him validity as a president willing to take action; however, there are a few issues that come with this. First the military’s success in Kuwait belongs more to the Reagan administration’s policies, the capabilities training and force expansion was all accomplished during his presidency.
What would you do if your role model described you as “the greatest stick-and-rudder man who ever live, the first pilot to fly and land an airplane using tools only”? General James “Jimmy” Doolittle who said that about another aviation legend, Bob Hoover, who stated: “Jimmy Doolittle was my idol, I wanted to be just like him”. The fact that his own idol said that about him is enough to make him a legend. Nevertheless, with his continuous handwork, daring personality, and extraordinary skills, he became a hero that every pilot looks up to and wishes to learn from him. He was a fighter pilot in World War II and in the Korean War.
In my opinion, I think John F. Kennedy was the best president that has been in office, even if he was only in it for a little more than 3 years. He came from a wealthy catholic family from Massachusetts, and came into office in 1960. One of the first things he did was strengthen the economy and created the New Deal strategy of deficit spending, first implemented during Franklin Roosevelt's presidency. He also convinced Congress to increase the minimum hourly wage to $1.25, and provided more than $400 million in aid distressed areas under the Area Redevelopment Act.
People who are desperate to become accepted by all the people in America, can do some pretty unpredictable things. Lyndon B. Johnson is an example of this. In the presidencies of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson times were extremely confusing. Domestically, the civil rights movement was in full effect and the war in Vietnam was raging overseas. Another major implication on these two mens presidencies was the Cold War and the fight for democracy to rule over communism around the world. Thus, many of the stances these two presidents had on Vietnam involved being aggressive in the war and not letting communism defeat the “free” world. Their decisions were both aggressive and extremely stubborn when the scope of the war began to take shape.
In 1901 the most amazing thing that ever happened to America took place. On October 27, 1858 Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated. Unfortunately, this did not occur on the best of terms. He was vice president to William McKinley. He was fatally shot a month before.

Also he was a president of action and as you can see from the statistics and sources I have used, you can see President Lyndon B. Johnson had the greatest impact on the civil rights. Without Johnson’s contributions to further the civil rights for black Americans there still would be racism in jobs. This would mean that white Americans would be favoured for jobs whilst Black Americans had a very small chance of being offered a job due to their lack of knowledge. Because of the introduction of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act by Johnson, more black American people were being educated and therefore more likely to get jobs. This has had a phenomenal impact on today’s society where the first black president, Obama, was appointed.
Theodore Roosevelt was a visionary and a great leader. Roosevelt had strong convictions that he applied to his leadership of this nation, and held all of our nation’s values in high esteem. Among many of Theodore’s pursuits, he was an avid conservationist. He wanted to ensure that the beauty and resources of the United States remained intact for every generation to walk on its soil. Many of the national parks we enjoy and the reserves our wildlife inhabit are all products of Roosevelt’s efforts.

In America we have had many presidents, they have done their job to get America this far. I would have to say that president Ronald Reagan would be my choice in who I think was the best President. I know I wasn 't alive when he was president but if I could I would like to live that time period. President Ronald Reagan was the 40th president. Thurgood Marshall played a part in the change through his rulings on the Supreme Court and by helping defend others like on the decisive Supreme Court case “Brown v. The Board of Education”. As Marshall stated once "The position of the Negro today in America is the tragic but inevitable consequence of centuries of unequal treatment . . . In light of the sorry history of discrimination and its devastating impact on the lives of Negroes, bringing the Negro into the mainstream of American life should be a state interest of the highest order. To fail to do so is to ensure that America will forever remain a divided society" (“The man who turned racism into history THE LAW’If white supremacy has subsided in the United States, it’s largely due to Thurgood Marshall of the Supreme Court.”, par 10). African Americans were mistreated, viewed as lower class, and were not equal in the eyes of the people or the law.
It my belief without Thurgood Marshall we would still be riding in the back of the bus going to separate schools and drinking “colored water”. The quote was from Benjamin Hooks. The quote was from NAACP executive director Benjamin Hooks who talked about Thurgood Marshall and what he did to stop segregation in Little Rock in the 50s and how he hired William Coleman a chairman of NAACP legal defense to take his place from his death. He had help to stop segregation at Little Rock Marshall died of heart failure on Jan 24 1993 at age 84 and was regarded by important lawyer of the century and h appointed Lyndon Johnson as supreme court and he championed the rights of the poor and downtrodden.
