The first mayoral candidate that we researched was Sheila Ann Dixon. Dixon was born on December 27, 1953. She is a graduate of the Baltimore City public school system and holds a bachelor’s degree from Towson University and a master’s degree from John Hopkins University. Dixon was elected as city council president in 1999, and was also the 48th mayor of Baltimore City. As mayor, she created the Charm City Circulator, which are free shuttles that travel four routes in Baltimore City.

It was May 10th, 1869. The presidents of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroad lines met at Promontory, Utah to declare the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Spanning over 9,000 miles of track and built almost entirely by hand in just 6 years, the railroad was like nothing the nation had ever seen before. Not long after the railroad was completed, changes began rippling across the country. Economic, political, and social policies began to shift and transform.
This gives another reason why Immigrants began to come to New York. At least in New York they’d be given freedom and wages wouldn’t be as low either. This gave them another reason to migrate to New York, giving the people and opportunity of a lifetime to have somewhat better opportunities then they did back where they came
In Hannah Greendale’s review about The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater, she argues about how the transgender community or those who identify as agender are being mistreated. She writes her review base off of a sociological lens. One of the main characters struggles with there sexuality while the other one is presented differently due to his race. Sasha is the name of one of the characters, and she identifies as neither male nor female. Sasha was born as a male named Luke, but as she grew up, she realized that she enjoyed wearing skirts instead of clothing that boys would typically wear.
Verizon 2000 Strike and Postal Strike of 1970 The two strikes I chose were completely different situations. The first strike I chose was the U.S Postal Strike of 1970. The United States Postal Strike of 1970 lasted two weeks. It began in New York City and spread to other cities within the following two weeks.
The similarities and differences between New York and Georgia The U.S is full many states all the same, but very different to their core. If you go to any state you’ll see the differences. Two states that share a lot of similarities and differences are New York and Georgia. One would think there nothing really very similar about those two states.

Although it broke the law, and countered the ancient principle that slaves were considered property, the Underground Railroad was a morally justified response to the institution of slavery, considering it was an inhumane institution. As well as being inhumane, the institution violated the Declaration of Independence, by denying the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, while also defying the idea of divine right from the Bible. Due to the overall institution of slavery being immoral and inhumane, the Underground Railroad was a justified response to this problematic issue. Despite the Railroad having some illegal aspects, the overall institution of slavery defied the Declaration of Independence, justifying the actions of the
New York City in the 1970's was a very dangerous and a high crime place. Drugs, murder and prostitutes infested the city. Teenagers getting trapped in this harsh environment at a young age lead to serious issues. In the book, Catcher in the Rye, by J.D Sallinger, Holden Caulfield explores the freedoms of the big city and witnesses the impact of its harsh environment in the 1970s. Drugs affected New York in the 1970s in a negative way.
The 1970 Postal Strike In 1970 the postal strike was an action that crippled America’s mail delivery system. When the postal workers initiated the strike it hindered communication on a number of levels and impacted more than the angered post-office employees. The postal stoppage made history and placed a monumental strain on daily operations for society. During this time the mail delivery function was a key component of communication for the entire nation.

Boston is the capital and largest city in Massachusetts. There is a population of about 656,000 living there. Since it is the country’s third most densely populated city, there are lots of traffic jams. Therefore, many people choose to rely on public transportation rather than own a car. Also, the public transportation in Boston is very reliable and convenient for the public.

Looking through the sheer glass window of a plane, I could see the beautiful sunset resting behind New York City. The glowing beams from the sunset radiated to the sky while orange and pink colors dispersed in every direction. Stars, or maybe other planes, loomed in the distance. Below, I spotted Central Park, the only green patch in the entire concrete jungle. Nearby, I could hear the chopping of a helicopter as the plane descended towards the ground.
