In the play The Tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, ambition is extensively shown throughout, giving us an insight into how it affects one’s self and others. Macbeth gained his ambition through his wife, Lady Macbeth, and the three witches. Others say ambition leads them to great success and drives them to be better people. In many cases, ambition can drive a person to succeed, help them face new challenges, and allow them to make a difference. To begin with, ambition not only leads one to do things, but also helps ambitious people continue their lives knowing they are achievers and capable of working hard for their desires. Throughout The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is a good representation of ambition; he pushes himself to achieve success, earning his role in the play. In the play, Macbeth is informed by the three witches of his prophecies for his future: Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor, and Macbeth, along with Banquo’s sons, will be Kings. After acknowledging the prophecies, Macbeth had a solid desire to corrupt and form them according to his preferences.
