Macbeth Diary Entry Analysis

Ah, today has been quite the interesting day. As I wrote yesterday in my journal entry, Macbeth and I fought in a battle. I wasn't even sure I would be here today to write this. However, my day wasn't interesting due to the battle, honestly. What happened after the battle though was quite surprising. You see, Macbeth and I were traveling home, we came across three witches. They were very ugly creatures and I'm still not even sure whether they were females or not, that's how ugly and withered they looked. I even asked if they were living creatures, but they almost seemed to pretend to not understand me, which was quite frustrating. Instead, they began to hail Macbeth and said that he was to someday become king. As they said this to him, I noticed that he seemed to start with surprise. I noticed, so I asked him about it and he wouldn't even talk to me about it! I thought I was a close friend, someone that he trusted, yet he wouldn't talk to me about it. And when I said that he would become king, his only comment was that the witches also said that my children would become king, as if that was a bigger deal than him becoming the king. As much as I love the idea of my children being the rulers of this land, I would have loved it even more if Macbeth had chosen to trust me with what he was feeling today. …show more content…

They predicted a lot of major things that were to take place in the future so I am not completely sure I believe them. It almost seems to good to be true, like it's a mean joke or something. They said things about me that I'm not sure are true or not. They said I was not very happy, but happier than Macbeth, which I don't find to be true. Before the witches came, I saw myself just as happy as Macbeth. We were equal in our happiness, but now Macbeth seems distracted and I'm not sure what to make of it. Will he really become king?
