A Tragic hero is a common way of describing people either in literature or in society. Often in Shakespeare's plays, he has a tragic hero present. In Macbeth, the role of a tragic hero is the main character Macbeth. Macbeth is known as a tragic hero as he has the same characteristics. Tragic heroes display good traits that come across as noble, however, they begin to have a flaw that becomes uncontrollable which leads to their unescapable demise. This point is proven by the actions of Macbeth that will be revealed as the play progresses. Macbeth exhibits a strong desire to rule, yet he also displays a noble side by debating his conscience. Macbeth initially had little interest in ascending to the positions of Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland. Yet because of the witch's prophecies, Macbeth initially considers the possibility of being king, which eventually inspires him to wish to become king to carry out the predictions. Lady Macbeth has Macbeth in awe of the ingenuity and boldness of her scheme, and he consents to carry it out. He forgets his initial "noble" and "honest" characteristics and starts planning the murder plot. Macbeth expresses guilt for murdering Duncan right away and foreshadows the negative effects that will happen. To get the authority he has craved since the beginning, Macbeth travels to Scone to be crowned, as his unbridled desire rules him. Acts IV and V show that Macbeth has reached his breaking point and has become disoriented by reality. His gloomy reaction to the news of his wife's passing suggests that he has lost all sense of purpose in the world. In the play's conclusion, Macbeth and Macduff have met and are about to engage in a life-or-death struggle. Even though Macduff points out that he was not born a woman, Macbeth insists he will not submit, despite his sudden dread for his life. They resolved for Macbeth to murder Macduff.
