Macbeth is presented as incredibly violent person throughout the play this is shown through his act of killing on the battlefield during the first act him having banquo killed during the middle of the play and at the end in which he fights macduff and where he dies this is most likely done by macbeth to show the corruption of the supernatural .

There is a counter argument for macbeth being seen as incredibly violent because of how later in the play macbeth has others kill his friend as he is to sentimental towards people close to him such is seen in the quote “he's in a ditch with 20 gashes along his head”this therefore shows macbeth's sentimentality through the keywords ditch as he doesn't ever want to see his friend ever again because he knows if he did that he would breakdown .there are other underlying meanings to this quote such as macbeth being so saddened by the knowledge of what he has to do that he has to have someone else carry it out.after this quote macbeth sees his friends ghost and has a mental break and with this context the quote then becomes even more proving that macbeth is a sentimental person he is sad to see his dead friend.this is then reinforced by a quote in a different act “for brave macbeth well he deserves that name”within the play this line is the start of the story of macbeth corruption as during this he is a skilled and good soldier for his king .this is shown through the keyword brave where with everything around it macbeth is just a man who loves his king and will do anything for him.this is shown in the deeper meaning of macbeth being seen as a great person by those close to him but seen as a incredibly dangerous and formidable fighter by the enemy.this may have been done by shakespeare to push the idea that a man being emotional is not a bad thing but social stigma may look down
