Macbeth is a very interesting play written by William Shakespeare in the year 1606. Macbeth kills Duncan, Banquo and others to try to become king and stay king. He does this because of the witches prophecies which state that he would be king and what he should avoid. In the end the witches tricked him and end up wording the prophecy so that he thought he was invincible let his guard down and ended up getting killed by macduff. Through most of the play Macbeth bases his actions off of greed, guilt, and fear.
Macbeth also bases some of his actions off of fear. First off, Macbeth tries to act manly because of the fact that he is scared. “Ay, and a bold one, that dare look on that Which might appal the devil” (Shakespeare, 3.4.61). Macbeth states that he is a man because he is looking at something that "would scare the devil,” which sense he is hallucinating means that he is said devil thats scared, but trying to hide it by acting like a man. First off, Macbeth bases his killing of Macduff's family off of greed for trying to stay king. “First Murderer He's a traitor. Son Thou liest, thou shag-eared villain. First Murderer What, you egg. Young fry of treachery. Son He has killed me, mother. Run away, I pray you. [Dies]” (shakespeare, 4.2.83-87). The murderer was sent by Macbeth to kill Macduff's family because he wanted to badly to stay king. Also, Macbeth based his beliefs off of greed. He only believes what he wants to believe from the witches prophecies instead of the whole picture. He does this because he wants to stay king so he only listens to what makes him sound unbeatable instead of listening to the beginning prophecies like that he should be weary of Macduff. In conclusion Macbeth bases his actions off of greed by only listening to what he wants to hear and killing the people in his way so he can try to stay in
