Ambition is an important trait to have as an individual, it is what pushes you to strive for success. In life, an individual will encounter many obstacles which alter their ambitions and desires, which is often done due to the influences of others. When ambition and goals change, so does identity and character. This can have a positive effect or negative consequences. The noble Macbeth is seen as having little ambition at the beginning of the play. But as the play progresses, we see that change where Macbeth grows an ambition for power through the manipulation of the witches and Lady Macbeth. Macbeth was a noble and brave warrior, who disdained fortune through his brave efforts in the battle against Norway. He was a loyal subject to Duncan, an honorable man, respected and admired by the people of Scotland. Macbeth was satisfied with his life, he won the battle and came back a brave warrior. Macbeth's characteristics in the beginning of the play is emphasized by praise from Sergeant “For brave Macbeth (well he deserves that name) / Disdaining Fortune, with his brandished steel” (i,ii,ll19-20) Many worshiped Macbeth for his bravery against the odds in combat. He fulfilled his duty to fight and protect his country. This demonstrates how righteous Macbeth was, the capacity he had to risk his life for his people. Duncan commends Macbeth with “O worthiest cousin! /The sin of my ingratitude even now /
