The Tragedy of Macbeth is a well known story that revolves around the word “ambition” but this ambition isn’t always self driven by someone, but rather through the influence of someone else who maintains control of the situation. The story is about a man whose desire to be the king and have power leads to the murders of those who might stand in his way. Throughout the story we see many characters who play major parts in how one event follows another, and how some characters seem to completely have control of the events in the story. Although in Macbeth the Three Sisters and Macbeth exhibit some control over the events, Lady Macbeth has the most responsibility.
Macbeth attempts to talk himself out of this immortal deed, but Lady Macbeth jumps in and ruins everything. Thus leaving Macbeth no choice but to commit the crime. Act 2 scene 1: Instead of Macbeth starting off his soliloquy with the famous, “Is this a dagger which I see before me..” (Shakespeare, 320) he starts off towards the end of his soliloquy saying, “Now o’er the one halfworld..” (Shakespeare, 320) and then jumps back to the beginning.

While watching both Goold (2010) and Polanski (1971), I have noticed a lot of major differences between the two movies and the original play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare. Some of the differences I have noticed is that is in Goold (2010), Macbeth actually comes to kill Lady Macduff and her children. Another difference in Goold (2010) is that the witches are shown throughout the film.
