I want to live just like anyone here at this camp. The other day I was looking at a painting by William Henry Powell, and noticed that the British were not having a tough time
Have you ever left a particular place but return only for everything to have disappeared? In 1578, Sir Walter Raleigh sailed overseas to America with his explorius half brother, Sir Humphrey Gilbert. The exploring that took place sparked an interest in Raleigh to one day colonize in America. Shortly after his return, he was granted permission by Queen Elizabeth I to do such a thing. In the summer of 1585, Raleigh sent off a group of motivated English settlers to settle in the New World.
With this special community opening it’s doors on June 3 1968, and now having the second generation of the family’s children living in Mililani starting to see all the changes that have been made. Lots of progress and changes
“The social workers told me about the New Dawn Centre. They said it was the best place for Native people to get help. It was on a hundred acres or so of land north of the city, and it was calm and restful. I resisted at first. But the doctors told me what a mess
Like anything else you love. Comparing to places that you love, can be complicated. I spent the better part of my life at Ft. Hood Texas. During that time, five of those years was spent, overseas fighting in the war.
A book that I recently read that showed a reflection of my self-understanding was Missoula by Jon Krakauer because it extended my perspective on women’s safety on college campuses. The book Missoula shares stories of five women who were sexually assaulted at the University of Montana, Missoula and follows their cases all the way to trial. As a girl who has always been told that a college education is necessary to succeed in life, the idea that colleges arent safe for me felt like a secret that I wasnt allowed to know until I experienced it for myself. Reading the statistics and seeing how all of the rapists walked away unpunished strengthened my understanding of the fact that sexual assault is a normal occurance on college campuses.
Since I was ten years old, I have been a member of the Young Marines, a program dedicated to the enrichment of youth. Aside from my family and school, this organization has had an incredible impact on my life, not only providing me with many unique and amazing experiences, but by shaping the foundation of my character by instilling in me the three core principles of the Young Marines: Discipline, Leadership, and Teamwork and also by emphasizing the importance of community service. I have had many amazing and unique experiences as a Young Marine which included the challenges of promotion to become the senior ranking officer, learning many new skills such as CPR, teaching Drug Demand Reduction, leading and mentoring the members of the Unit, going on encampments and traveling. In my sophomore year, my Unit Commander, a Korean War veteran, selected me to travel with him to Seoul. Every few years he chooses a Young Marine to take to South Korea based on merit.
Throughout high school I have been employed by Adam Lozano and by Jose Zavala, or Zavala Pools. I have had the opportunity to work for Adam Lozano for the past two years. However, this time frame only includes the summer months. My duties while working for him have included babysitting his two little ones for about 35 hours per week. Also, In addition to working for Adam Lozano, I have also worked for Zavala Pools.
I have stayed at Woodland because I am accomplishing every single goal I set for myself. My trade will be completed in November and there is much hope and anticipation to complete Job Corps sometime in
The easiest place in the world to be learn to be an Engineer and surround myself with extraordinary people. I 'm not the same person I used to be, as a result of of life lessons I now understand the reason for higher education at least by my standards. They 're all off in Oklahoma just to work to “make ends meet” and just spoiling their lives away, I desire more for my life. I 'm at the math lab a couple nights a week taking part in group activities and spending time with helping others at my college. I would like someday to organize a program that allows Veterans to go to school for free and their only worry is that of a student.
When I was 14 I had to move to San Clemente, California. I had already recently moved temporarily to Texas while a house was made ready for us on the military base. “The house is ready!” my mother had said excitedly, after being on the phone for a few minutes. “It’s time to go back?”
The Holocaust was an event that marked history as the most devastating moment for many Jews, as they were put into concentration camps so that they could be tortured and annihilated. I went to the Holocaust Museum on April 27th, where I learned lots of information about the Holocaust and what Adolf Hitler did to the Jews and other victims of the Holocaust. In the beginning of our tour, my tour group and I were waiting for the elevator doors to open, so we could enter the exhibit. I remember feeling a little anxious to see the exhibit, as I knew it might be graphic.
Monuments Men is a fairly recent film with the premise of a group of soldiers during World War II tasked with protecting the artwork within the continental Europe from those who want to take it. It primarily centers on the story of Frank Stokes, played by George Clooney, and how he is able to assemble a ragtag group of “soldiers” and actually enter the frontlines. Over the course of the story, the group loses a few members, but do manage to discover the stashes of art hidden by Hitler and save it from destruction, including the Ghent Altarpiece and the Lady Madonna. Despite having already watched this movie, is still struck me how much the movie’s message still resonated with me. The movie makes a clear case for the value of art, and I feel
Hawaii will always have a special place in my heart not only because of the outstanding views, but because it meant something to my grandma. My grandma died September 11, 2016, her wish was that my grandpa would take my mom, brother, and I to Hawaii with him. Her wish came true this summer. My grandparents traveled to Hawaii almost every year, we heard many stories and saw a lot of pictures, but nothing compared to seeing it with your own eyes.
My Favorite Place to Visit There are many states have I been to in my life. I have made lots of memories with the places I have been to and the people I have went with with. The first time I traveled out of state was when I was three years old.
