“The Magna Carta is a list of 63 clauses or grievances issued by the nobleman, clergy, and merchants.” Magna Carta was widely held to be the people’s reassertion of rights against an oppressive ruler. The Magna Carta protects the people’s rights through justice, law, and civil rights.
In the year 1215, the Magna Carta, one of the most important document in history and was signed by King John of England. The magna carta gives people right and the freedom they deserve, through common law. This was important because the magna carta limited high officials power and gave rights and liberty to the people. Common law is a big part of why the Magna Carta created for the people. Back in the day, people lived under feudal rule which did not gives rights to the people. Instead, citizens worked on the king’s land and paid taxes to the king. Due to this conflict, the people of Europe demanded that the king sign the magna carta, which limited the kings power and gave rights to the people. As www.britannica.com explains, “All these customs and liberties that we have granted shall be observed in our kingdom in so far as concerns our own relations with our subjects. Let all men of our kingdom, whether clergy or laymen, observe them similarly in their relations with their own men.” The Magna Carta is implying that the right and liberties are and will be extended to all men with in the kingdom. This was a big step for people at that time because it ended feudalism and the people received rights. However, not many countries follow the practices of the Magna Carta, instead they have used the Magna Carta as a blue print in making their own constitution.
