Major Issues and Concerns This client has many areas of which a counselor could focus on in the counseling session. First I would want to know what the client would want to work on first. Some possibilities would be dealing with the enormous guilt the client has over living his life and having to hide it from his family. Another thing that could be discussed is the need that feel feel to hold their family together. To talk about where they believe that came from for it was something that was never said to him to do so why did he feel the need to do that. Also to talk about the clients’ sexuality if they feel that is something that needs to be worked on or they are not out to the family and this could cause problems. Also another thing that could be discussed in the counseling session would be the relationship between the client and the mother. To talk about not only the need to be perfect for her but also the sexualized relationship that they had. This conversation could be continued into a conversation about the sex life the client has with current and past partners and possibly the way the relationship with the mom affects it.

I feel like I would be able to relate to the burned this client feels to fix any problem that arose in the household for I grew up doing the same thing. I would have to fix the problems that would potentially happen. I would feel that it was my job to take car of the things going on around the house. I know that our instances are very different however, I believe this would allow me to be more empathetic and also a little disclosure with the client about growing up in a household where I had to fix everything and take care of everything also as the youngest child could give me credibility with them. I think a possible impact it would have on me is making me want to reflect on the issues I had growing
