Malala Yousafzai’s Passion and Ability to Inspire
Malala Yousafzai was an ordinary 15 year-old teenager that went to school like most girls until one day everything changed her life. Malala wasn’t any ordinary teen after this experience, she developed into an inspiration across the world due to her powerful words. In “The Story of Malala Yousafzai,” Kristin Lewis, Christina Lamb, and Malala Yousafzai describes Malala’s crusade against the Taliban for education rights for all children. Malala’s fight had many risks in them, but she kept on facing and overcoming every obstacle that comes her way. On October 9, 2012, the Taliban decided to end her crusade because she wasn’t respecting their notes. The Taliban opened fire, injuring Malala near her left eye. The Taliban’s attempt on trying to “silence” Malala didn’t work out on their side, ironically the Taliban helped out Malala by making thousands more discover a voice. Malala still didn’t give up after she got seriously injured, her passion made her move on. Additionally, Malala quoted, “[t]hey thought the bullets would silence us. But they failed. And then, out of that silence came thousands of voices.” This meant that the Taliban shooting her, helped her acquire more supporters in her crusade for education. Malala reminded herself, “Malala, you already faced death. This is your second life. Don’t be afraid---- if you are afraid, you can’t move forward…” This means that Malala already faced a near-death experience and she can’t let one incident ruin her advancement in life and her pursuing her mission. This matters since if you let one tragic moment in life stop you, you won’t be able to move farther in life. Malala’s figure as a role model before she was shot by the Taliban and after she was shot was a huge difference. Before Malala was shot, she was just a role model and activist for girl’s education in Pakistan. Malala isn’t just any ordinary 15 year old teen because an ordinary teen wouldn’t have done what she had done. She had the courage and bravery to stand up to something that others wouldn’t; putting her life on the line. Malala exhibits how her voice can change the world. During one of her speeches she said “one child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world,” Malala made millions realize that they have a voice of their own and that they could reach out to show others what they believe in like how Malala talked about education rights. Malala Yousafzai’s passion reveals her “underlying beliefs/values” by showing how hard she worked for to accomplish her mission of children having their education rights. The lesson we can learn from Malala is to never doubt your ability to impact the world and also to get rid of all the negativity and replace it with courage and never give
