To put it another way, heroes are ordinary people, they don’t go around boasting the fact that they are heroes, and that they are better than anyone else. In fact, they often don’t even think of themselves as a hero or anyone special for that matter. An example of this would be Malala Yousafzai, an average Pakistani girl who is in fact quite humble. In an excerpt from her memoir, “I am Malala” she demonstrates this, she explains how her, and her best friend came about each other. “We’d lived on the same street when we were little and had been friends since primary school. A hero must be doing the actions that they do, not for fame but instead to help people and to make the world a better place. To clarify, a hero shouldn't want to gain anything from the actions that they take. In the novel excerpt, Outcast United by Warren St. John, A group of refugees come together and create a soccer team. One thing they didn’t have at the beginning was a coach. They all came from poor families whose parents often weren’t home so none of them were willing to take the job. When they final found someone she wasn’t even willing to do the job at first. “She had volunteered—naively, as she would admit—to help these boys on the field and off, unaware of the scope and intractability of their difficulties: post-traumatic stress, poverty, parental neglect in some cases, grief, shattered confidence and in more than one instance, simple anger at having to live the way they did” (7). The author, Warren St. John explains how Luma the soccer coach never naively volunteered for the job. But in the end it all came down to the fact that she wanted to make the world a better place. She didn’t want to become famous, she really just wanted to help the kids fit in. She also didn’t want to gain riches and money, in fact she wasn’t even getting paid to be the coach of the team. In other words, heroes shouldn’t make you feel bad whether you are rich or you are poor, whether you are homeless or live in a mansion. They help anyone because they have very kind and caring personalities and they just want to help people. As an example of this, Nicholas Marchesi is a 21 year old australian who has launched a non-profit business with one of his buddies. He is the co-founder of Orange Sky. Orange sky, is a free laundry service on wheels for the homeless. Nicholas and His buddy Lucas have been very successful so far this year. They are based in Australia but plan to move to the US. They don’t discriminate against the homeless or what they call ‘sleeping in the rough’. One example of this is in an Online article on CNN, when Nicholas mentions how he thinks that everyone should have clean clothes no matter how rich or how poor they are. “Marchesi is motivated by his belief that clean clothing is a basic human right everyone deserves -- but not everyone can access.” Marchesi also partners up with many other organization, who offer showers or free meals to the homeless. He thinks that you shouldn’t discriminate and everyone should get the same rights. Most college graduates don’t immediately start a non profit organization right after they graduate. It’s really
