Civil rights activists will always be the heroes of the black people in America. MLK Jr. and Malcolm X will be at the top of this list engraved in the hearts of black Americans. Neither of these men out worked each other and that wasn't their intention either. The main goal of these great men was to achieve political and social greatness for their fellow black people. MLK and Malcolm X appeal to their audience's emotions and religious beliefs in their documents “A letter from a Birmingham jail” and “The Ballot or the Bullet.”
This journal article belabours the point that is also a common theme in “The Autobiography of Malcolm X”: Malcolm’s changing views on civil rights. Again as a result of his tumultuous childhood because of the “white man”, Malcolm generalizes all white people as essentially haters of blacks because of the negative experiences he’s had with them and the tragic ways they treated him. But, as he grows older and matures, Malcolm has the eye-opening experience of seeing people of all colors worship next to each other. This is an interaction between blacks and whites that creates a positive environment as an outcome.
Philosophical differences between martin luther king and malcolm X The philosophical differences between Martin Luther King and Malcolm X have to do with the their protest strategies. MLK never fought with violence. Although he would get physically attacked, he stood his ground and continued to fight for equality peacefully. King believed that whites and blacks should come together to end the hate and violence.

By calling the people in power, the whites, “devils” and encouraging African-Americans to defend themselves against them “by any means necessary,” it is clear that Malcolm X opposed the establishment. One ancient prophet, Amos, also challenged power and strength when he said, “They hate those who reprove at the gate and abhor those who speak with integrity; therefore because you tax the destitute and exact from the levies of grain, though you have built houses of hewn stone, you shall not live in them; though you have planted choice vineyards, you shall not drink their wine. Yes, I know how many are your crimes, how grievous your sins: oppressing the just, accepting bribes, turning away the needy at the gate,” (New American Bible, Revised Edition, Amos 5: 10-12). In this quote, Amos speaks out against the rich who live in live in comfortable stone houses while they tax the poor. Another reason showing Malcolm X as a modern prophet is because he told the immediate troubles.
To demonstrate, Malcolm X identifies himself as “one of the 22 million black people who are the victims of Americanism… [and] democracy” (2). This quote is an example of the combination of logos and ethos. He uses statistics as a fact to support his claim that African Americans are suffering in the United States and demonstrates his expertise with his identity as an African American, respectively. In addition, while identifying himself as a Muslim who practices Islam, Malcolm X tells his audiences that he is “not here to argue or discuss anything that we differ about, because it’s time for us to submerge our differences and realize that it is best for us to see that we have the same problem, a common problem…” (1). This quote clearly shows that Malcolm X is devoted in helping his people achieve equality, despite the fact that he is already a well-known and influential
Malcolm X became one the most crucial world wide speaker for the Black Muslims. His debating abilities against white and black rivals helped spread the organization's message. He uses his strong and violent talks to remind black people that they should not be following the white man’s footsteps because they were already abandoned by the white man and that they should not be discouraged by them. He believes that black people are blinded by the supremacy of the white man and that they (Africans) believe that the color white is greater or higher than the color black. Malcolm X is a prominent figure in history.
Martin Luther King Jr said,“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools”. In the late 1960s, racial tension was high, African Americans were not given the right to vote, the right to a fair education, and the right to a fair judgement. This then led to the separation of schools and the destruction of a normal livelihood. Dr.King and Malcolm X, two men in the face of oppression rose up to challenge the racial barrier, thus changing the world forever. Although Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X seem to have mutual respect and an equal understanding of the inequality, their philosophies were quite different from each other.
On June 28, 1964, the Black Nationalist leader Malcolm X delivered a very powerful speech. A speech called “By Any Means Necessary”. During the time of speech, the major issue of the United States was gaining the true rights of an African American. Although Slavery had been abolished, blacks were still treated as less than human. Over the years, they worked hard to get their rights and are continuing to do so.
Malcolm X and his ideals are arguably a representation of the transition from the early 1950 's non-violent movement for integration to a more aggressive black power movement. Evidence of this is shown through powerful strands of his novel “The Ballot or the Bullet” including when he writes, “I don 't mean go out and get violent, but at the same time you should never be non-violent unless you run into some non-violence.” (Malcolm 439). In writing that members of the civil rights movement should never be non-violent he does so facetiously. This excerpt indicates a call for violence as a more powerful method for achieving the equality he feels they deserve.

The performance embraced Restoration conventions through character types, epithets, and expressions of space, place, values, social structure, and beauty by the character of Mr. Snelgrave. The performance also embraced the Modern conventions of Naturalism and Realism through satire and representational aspects such as time appropriate costumes, realistic props, and a localized set. It strayed from these conventions through presentational aspects such as the half-walled room that served as the set, the nonlinear plotline, and the small symbolic crosses painted into the cobblestones of the stage.
According to X, “The ballot or the bullet”... “Now in speaking like this, it doesn't mean that we're anti-white, but it does mean we're anti-exploitation,we're anti-degradation, we're anti-oppression. And if the white man doesn't want us to be anti-him, let him stop oppressing and exploiting and degrading us”(Malcolm #2). The essence of Malcolm’s argument is that he is not anti white, he is anti whites oppressing and disenfranchising African Americans and if the white person wants to not be hated, then he should stop hating himself. In a letter written in Mecca, Malcolm X says,“on this pilgrimage, what I have seen,and experienced, has forced me to re-arrange much of my thought-patterns previously held, and to toss aside some of my previous conclusions” (Malcolm X).
