Whereas Taylor called his theory ‘Scientific Management’ and overly stressed the need for efficiency and restricted himself to the activity of production within a firm. It could even be said that Taylor had a micro-approach due to his restrictions within a factory and Fayol had a macro approach as his principles are adaptable to all fields of management. However, Taylor did conduct several experiments earlier on in his studies testing the task sytem within a firm focusing on all aspects of production such as the time needed, materials, labour and what was the quickest, most-effective way of producing the good in question, ( Taylor 1911)
