As surrealism and Dadaism influenced Duchamp’s early artworks, it is not wrong to use unwanted items into an art piece and as he was in the modern art movement period, which is to create new ideas, so he was just challenging the very definition of art. Since that Dada was not much a style of art like the cubism, it was more of a protest with an anti establishment manifesto so Marcel Duchamp wanted to react to it by using a urinal, to show he was pissed against “anti -art’’, like how people piss in the urinal. I feel that Marcel Duchamp did not want to be stereotype, he want to break free from reality and wanted to show to the industrial world that he is embracing art. Duchamp is changing the mindset of art, pushing the boundaries of what art is. He once also mentioned that why are we painting what you see, it is just a duplicate of nature, where there is no interacting but visuals only.
