On October 1, 2003, Dawna Cantrell was arrested and charged with the murder of her husband and two counts of tampering with evidence. Ms. Cantrell’s competency was questioned after evaluation by the defense expert, Dr. Eric Westfried. After subsequent evaluation by the state’s expert, Dr. Edward Siegel, both experts found that Ms. Cantrell had a “persecutory delusional disorder” and that her mental illness precluded her from assisting her attorney in her defense. The trial court found her incompetent to stand trial and ordered a dangerousness evaluation.
I presume that it would be ethically correct to provide a compensation to Henrietta Lacks descendants. I am aware that Henrietta Lacks cells enabled scientist to encounter new discoveries such as the polio vaccine and other. However, the benefits of her cells does not outweigh the fact that Lacks family deserved some sort of compensation. It would be ethically correct because the financial reward could have accommodated the needs of her family. In the article “Family of Henrietta Lacks gains some control” states, “When scientists and doctors crave the key to the genetic code that unlocked treatments and vaccines, two family members will have a seat at the table where the decisions are made” (Curtis).

Evaluation of “Remote Weaponry: The Ethical Implication” by Suzy Killmister Throughout time warfare has evolved both strategically and in their mechanics. Armed forces are no longer fighting with swords or lined up in trenches as commonly as they used to. It is only natural for something that is made to protect civilizations to evolve as strategists are introduced to new technologies. From swords to muskets and automatic rifles, the conversation now takes the “man to man” contact out of the equation.
Hunter Johnson CRN 10774 Term Paper Political Actors are not just any elected officials, but they can be any organization, group, or person that has an influence on any political issue. In the Texas affirmative action case, many political actors are involved. Edward Blum runs a group who is working on ending affirmative action. He was along side Abigail Fisher helping her though this case. Another political actor was Justice Clarence Thomas.
I believe that this contract should be valid, because both parties agree to surrogacy and Mary Beth, who is the surrogate parent, allowed the artificial insemination to be planted in her body to carry the Stern’s baby. They had a signed contract which clearly stated the end result. Their agreement had a promise and a consideration, but all of them were not legal. It is my opinion that once Mary Beth delivered the baby she should have given custody to the Stern’s immediately. A name should have been picked out by the Stern’s prior to the birth and Mary Beth should have put that name on the birth certificate to eliminate the step of the name change process.
Terri Schiavo was a 26 year old woman who collapsed at her home in February of 1990. Schiavo had no flow of oxygen to her brain for several minutes, causing her to fall into a persistent vegetative state. Although she was severely brain damaged, she still maintained a heartbeat with blood flow, and was able to see and move her limbs with impaired vision (Lynne, 2005).However, it was still necessary that Schiavo have a feeding tube to sustain her life. Terri 's husband believed that she would have wanted to be taken off life support and die a natural death, claiming he heard her say “If I ever have to be a burden to anybody, I don’t want to live like that.” (Lynne, 2005).

Part I – Sarah’s Argument The moral theory that I choose for Sarah is contractarianism. Contractarianism, which has its roots in Hobbes’ line of social contract thought, views morality as being based on contract or agreement. This moral theory states that people are self-interested, and f ollowers of this theory consider that moral norms are determined by a maximization of joint interest, and consent to the beliefs of the society. Contractarianism argues that people are motivated to accept morality because they are vulnerable to the depredations of others and because they are deemed to benefit from cooperating with others.
Because detectives are commonly portrayed as outsiders who do not directly contribute to societal norms and functions, their self-worth and happiness are based on solving cases and thus contributing socially in a more discreet manner. Wimsey is no exception to this thought process, mentioning ‘That passion for being useful which attacks the best of us when we’re getting past our prime’ (Sayers 143). By choosing to solve Harriet’s case, he is putting himself in a position to be considered as useful again by societal terms. Typically, basing happiness off of success is not a problem for early 1900 detectives, as they were all shown to be easily victorious in solving their cases. However, Wimsey subverts the established detective trope of the time, which results in a portion of the book being dedicated to his inability to deduce the means of death and motive of the
They fixate on Guy’s guilt creating a verification bias within their detective

To be a good interrogator it requires more than confidence and creativity although it does help, but interrogators are very well trained in the mental tactics of social impact. An interrogators task is to get someone to confess to a crime, but it is not easy. While it isn’t easy for them, sometimes they will end up with confessions from the innocent testifies because of the expertise in psychological manipulation interrogators have. The interrogation process has been manipulated over the years and they are using unethical approaches to gain information or a confession from suspects. But in the law of confessions, it is required that confessions are not coerced but be voluntary so that it is admitted into evidence.
