The Raleigh Police Department Youth Outreach Coordinator is a non-sworn position that works to develop documentation, analysis and coordination of outreach resources. This position is located in the Detective Divisions of Youth and Family Services, and Juvenile Units. The Youth and Family Service Unit is made up of sworn and civilian personnel like Mrs. Adams. They are specially trained in domestic violence investigation, victim services, youth outreach, juvenile investigations, crisis counseling, drug abuse prevention education, school safety, and mentoring. To date the Youth and family Service Unit has provided outreach opportunities to approximately 5,300 young people myself included in that number and their families. She is my drum major because no matter her position or title she still has helped people in need of something. Not for glory but just for the sake of creating a better community. I think that my Mentor was born with the characteristics of selfless service, because even when she had her child she was still
