Both Martin Luther King Jr. and Margaret Chase Smith are famous for speeches that they gave, and isn’t only because of the topics of which they were giving the speeches on. They both used similar ways in their speeches, but they were both also different in their delivery. In Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, he was covering the topic of racism in America and the equal rights movement. Margaret Chase Smith’s speech covered the topic of another set of rights; the rights to criticize, to hold unpopular beliefs, the right to protest, and the right of independent thought.

In “I Have a Dream”, Martin Luther King discussed the blatant racism in the United States. He spoke against it and advocated his ways of peaceful protesting. That speech is one of the most important speeches given in the history of the US, and if not, it is certainly one of the most memorable. MLK’s delivery of “I Have a Dream” was strong, powerful, and empowering. It inspired and provided reason, and the force behind it was amazing.
