Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist and a baptist minister who led the civil rights movement in the United States from the mid 1950’s to 1968. I chose Martin Luther King Jr. not only because he is one of the most influential leaders the world ever known but because of his courage and resilience to fight for equality. He owns many different titles from a Reverend to the voice of the American civil rights. Many accomplishments and achievements have led him to earning these titles or names. Some of his achievements include, leading the the Montgomery Bus boycott, which lasted for 385 days with the US Supreme Court ruling that segregation on public buses was unconstitutional. Another achievement is when he was one of the leaders for the Great March on Washington which had over 250,000 participants, making it one of the largest political rallies for human rights.
