Martin Luther King philosophy was the best for America in the 1960s. In the 1960s there was a great civil rights. Two leaders emerge, Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Both man wanted the same thing, however they had different approaches to reach their goals. In this paper, I’m going to show that Martin Luther King philosophy was better in the 1960s because his power on nonviolence, his strong leadership and fight for equal rights.
He changed his last name to “X” to symbolize his rejection to slavery. After this Malcom X became a big part of the Nation of Islam. He became a very influential part in the Islamic religion. He was very dedicated to the Nation of Islam. He was moved around to quite a bit temples and made sure to make his mark on each on.

Many might remember the name Malcolm X or Martin Luther King Jr. One of the philosophers that would make since in the 1960’s was Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in the peach state,known as Atlanta , Georgia on January 15,1929. Martin was a son of a preacher,later on Martin would become a Pastor and civil rights’ activist.
In the 1960, in america during the civil war movement two leaders emerged wanting freedom but both had different views on how to achieve that goal. The first man was Martin Luther King Jr. and believed in more peaceful tactics while the other man Malcolm X believed more of a violent approach and shared his very well observed hate towards mostly the white man. I will be showing you why Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy is the most accurate way to accomplish the goal of freedom thru the works of non violent responses, boycotts, and demanding equality. The first reason was his approach to the white men when they try to harm African Americans or break them down.
The second reason Martin Luther King Jr had a great philosophy is because of his opinion on why it was not a good idea to fight back. In Document L it provides another quote from Martin Luther King Jr saying “Even the extremist leaders who preach revolution are invariably unwilling to lead what they know would certainly end in blood” (Martin Luther King Jr’s interview with Alex Haley Document L) This document provides evidence by telling us that even the most extreme of leaders know that violence is not the way to freedom, because violence only leads to retaliation and violence.
King's philosophy was profoundly influenced by intellectual giants such as Mahatma Gandhi and Henry David Thoreau. Their teachings and principles of nonviolent resistance inspired his analytical and critical approach to civil rights activism. By embracing nonviolence as a powerful means to fight for equality, Dr. King aligned his advocacy with the peaceful democratic processes emphasized in the social contract. The Montgomery Bus Boycott serves as a focal point for analyzing Dr. King's leadership and his instrumental role in demanding equal treatment and access to public services.
MLK knew that violence would get blacks nowhere in the success of freedom. “Thus, in purely practical as well as moral terms, the American Negro has no alternative to nonviolence” (Doc L). Nonviolence civil disobedience was the only possible way to influence legislation or government policy. During the Civil Rights Movement, nonviolence would be the right thing to
used ethos to encourage African Americans to overcome oppression,Martin Luther King Jr knew that any violence would ruin their chance at freedom, if this get violent it makes African Americans look bad and they will never receive the things they have been asking for, the most ethical thing for Martin Luther King Jr to do was to warn African Americans not to become violent, and explain to them that he knows that they have a taste for freedom, but being violent will not help them, and that exactly what he did; “ Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plain of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protests to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy, which has engulfed the Negro community, must not lead us to a distrust of all white people.”
During the 1960’s, Martin Luther King Jr. had the best philosophy compared to his counterpart, Malcolm X. They both have different methods of solving racism and having civil rights for black Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to solve racism and to have civil rights peacefully and nonviolently. Malcolm X on the other hand, wanted to solve racism and to have civil rights by any means necessary.
Throughout this course as a class we have covered many topics such as Freedom, War, Religion and Happiness to name a few. When you 're learning about different events that have happened you gain a better understanding of what has happen to make the world we live in today what it is, there is good things that has shaped the United States but there is also some bad things that has happen in the past the has shaped the kind of world we live in today. Malcolm X believed that the blacks and the whites should be separated, he wanted the whites to work in conjunction and work among their own kind, and this simply means that he wanted the whites to work alone.

Many African American were mistreated due to the racist people who intervened the African Americans from doing anything.
