Martin Luther was an educated man in the biblical text. His teacher respected him however, others people who held power in the church did not enjoy his teachings. He was seen as a man of importance by the peasants because of his honesty and love he had for word of God. Luther saw how others inside the church were using indulgences as a way to take the money of the uneducated peasants in return for shorting their time in purgatory. Luther felt responsible for the deaths of many of the peasants because he had gone into hiding. Under the leadership of one of Luther’s friends, they had begun an uprising attempting to do away with the wrong teachings of the church; however, the peasants that fought were slaughtered.
