Mary surratt should not have got hanged.she maybe should of got a long sentence in prison or something better than getting hanged because she didn 't know booth was going to kill abraham lincoln. All she did was deliver thing to booth because he told her to.

Mary Surratt was an innocent woman who was accused of helping John Wilkes Booth with the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. She got hanged for it, but the person who actually did do something to help John Wilkes, Dr Mudd, didn’t get hanged, he got life in prison.
Why Mary Surratt didn’t deserve the death sentence Mary Surratt wasn’t innocent but wrongly put to death. Evidence used against Mary surratt was sightings of confederates at her house,when it really wasn’t her fault. According to source two, her son john Jr.was a known confederate spy ,and similar characters frequented her boarding house. This piece of information taken from source shows that even if she weren’t involved with any conspiracy she would automatically have been linked to the confederates do to her sons and their connections. Mary Surratt’s boarding house was used as a refugee for blockade runners (source 2).

MARY SURRATT WAS GUILTY AND WAS RIGHTFULLY EXECUTED. Mary Surratt was guilty and was rightfully executed because, she hid guns for John Wilkes Booth behind her husbands tavern. Also she was a close friend to John Wilkes Booth when the police came they asked her, where is your friend John wilkes Booth. Mary Surratt hid guns for John Wilkes Booth, that were later on used to kill Abraham Lincoln. John Wilkes Booth said he would pick up the guns or shooting irons with a small package.
George Atzerodt walks into a bar Caught up in what was supposed to be a noble act to kidnap the President and defend the Confederate, George Atzerodt had no idea the demented twist this conspiracy would take. Atzerodt never wanted anyone to lose their life, he just wanted to assist in getting back what was being ripped away from the Confederacy. Originally Mr. Atzerodt was just going to be the boatman that President Lincoln would have been stowed away on in the kidnapping plot. According to source two, Mary Surratt new of the kidnapping plot but not the plan to kill the president. This explains that she new of the kidnapping plot, but she did not realize they were going to kill President A. Lincoln. Furthermore in source one, it also claims that she ignored any idea or thought to kill the president. This evidence explains Surratt did not have any agreements to kill
Mary Surratt should have been put to death because, she helped the killer and knew other plots John Wilkes Booth was planning. Mary Surratt worked with John Wilkes Booth to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. She hid guns that were later used in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln (Source 2). This shows that she gave weapons to John Wilkes Booth on purpose. She lied to the police that she didn’t know John Wilkes Booth(Source 2).

Mary Warren is a young girl who is a servant for the Proctors. Mary is the one who made the poppet for Elizabeth and put the needle into the poppet. Because she is the only one who can prove that Elizabeth is innocent and get her out of jail, John Proctor forces her to testify in court despite the fact that Mary is terrified of Abigail. Due to the actions of Abigail that pressure Mary to lie, she accuses John Proctor as she says “‘my name, her want my name. I’ll murder you, he says, if my wife hangs!
After continuous pressuring Mary Warren replies with ‘I cannot, they’ll turn on me— “showing us the mob has driven fear into people and how Marry is afraid to tell the truth in the case everyone will turn on her and blame her. Mary’s feeble attempt to recompense backfires, so when Abigail uses the poppet to blame it on Elizabeth, making Mary feel even worse thus she agrees to go with proctor to testify against Abigail in court. Later after agreeing to go to court to support Proctor Mary is asked who is at fault and in fear replies pointing to proctor “You’re the devil’s man!” (act three, page 119). This demonstrates how the fear of the mob and the overwhelming pressure from the Abigail makes her turn from the truth.
