During the movie Trolls, many of the characters had “masks” of themselves they used to hide who they truly were. Creek, Bridget, and Branch are all, in my opinion, characters who used masks to hide their true selves. I believe they were insecure, or felt doubtful of themselves to the point where they believed they had to be something else in order to achieve life. In the beginning of the movie, Creek appears as the most positive, supportive, reassuring Troll in all of Troll Village, approaching everything with Zen wisdom. He comes off as calm, collected and capable. When many of the Trolls were captured by the Bergen, Chef, Creek was the first decided to be eaten by Prince Grisle. As a turn of events, he isn’t eaten by the Prince, but instead …show more content…

Bridget herself is the sweetest, most kindhearted Bergen in all of Bergen Town. She is a sensitive and soft spoken person. Throughout the film, we learn she has a secret crush on the Bergen King, Prince Gristle, but lacks confidence to speak out. When Bridget meets Poppy and the other Trolls, they put together a plan to give Bridget the confidence she needs to act like a total babe, in order to catch the eye of the King. Although the King fell for everything Bridget was, she wasn’t really herself. When the King and Bridget met, Bridget made up a completely different name, which was Lady Glitter Sparkles, the Trolls helped Bridget with new hair, clothes and ultimately gave her a more alluring personality. Bridget put together this new “mask” because she lacked the confidence to just be herself. She felt the King would never fall for a servant like herself, so instead she hid her true self and created Lady Glitter Sparkles. Bridget believes she can never have the King if she is not Lady Sparkles, but Poppy eventually convinces Bridget that she is perfect and the King will love her just the way she is. Bridget, although takes time, realizes too she doesn’t need to hide behind the mask of Lady Glitter Sparkles. She can be the dishwasher, scullery maid she’s been and still have the King fall for her true …show more content…

Branch is an over-cautious paranoid survivalist in Troll Village, who lives in fear of invasion from the Bergens. He is the only Troll in the village who doesn't sing, dance or hug. Branch lives a disgruntled existence, constantly trying to prepare for the worst. We see in the beginning of the film, Poppy always invites Branch to their Troll parties and although Branch would never be caught dead seen attending, he still keeps all the invitations Poppy made for him. I believe this gives a look into who Branch really is - that he really has a heart for others and wants to be apart of the fun but because of the person he’s decided to be, the mask he’s created for himself, he feels he needs to stay the loner, introvert he’s made himself. When Branch decides to help Poppy save her friends from the Bergens, he slowly begins to open up to her. It isn’t until Branch fully explains why he doesn’t sing or dance, is when you fully get a glance of the true Branch. He explains when he was a child, he had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. He sung so often that one day he didn’t hear his grandmother warning him of a Bergen coming. His grandmother risked her life in order to save his. She died because of the Bergen and from that day, Branch decided he would never sing or dance again. That was also the day Branch lost his true colors, that was the day Branch’s mask was created. Toward the end of the movie, Poppy
