Utilizing advanced cinematic technology and taking new box office high, the film Avatar ironically present the theme, the contrast and conflict between materialist and spiritual life, between dualistic/naturalistic and analogical ontology, between the power of technology and nature. This essay will begin by analyzing Avatar’s cosmology and the differentiation between the ways how Na’vi's and human society represented by RDA cooperation function and then move to reason out different values and worldview of these two races revealed by their behaviors and social structures. The group of scientist, led by Grace, initially as the middle of the roaders, advocates negotiation as the best way to solve the problem, while later is turned down for being too idealistic and useless. However, can’t we really find a balance between spiritual and material, between technology and nature? This question is more worthy of attention than simply making a good/bad judgement. When different civilizations collide with each other, negotiation can still be a good idea, if more time is permitted, true communication and mutual understandings and respects are reached. When the conflicts between material and spirituality happen in modern society, we should always trace back to our heart and shall care the development and needs of both
