What is power? How are the people in your life powerful? How are you yourself powerful? Being powerful is having the ability to control one’s (yourself) or others lives. To Kill a Mockingbird is about a rape trial between an African American man and a white woman, of course Mayella won the trial. Although Mayella is powerless when it comes to gender and class, her race ultimately makes her powerful. Compared to Mayella’s race, her class immediately makes her powerless.
