In the movie hidden figures, many triumphs and failures are shown. Three African American women fight through this life with the finish line constantly moving. In the 1960,s, living as an african American woman is like swimming with a 50 pound weight on your back. This is said because they swim the same race as the white women, but have to work two, sometimes three times harder just to survive. The first woman that will be mentioned is Katherine Goble. Katherine was absolutely brilliant, and showed amazing grace and dignity throughout the movie. Katherine is supported by two other strong woman. As they hustled to fix it a white police officer pulled them over, once he realized what they did his opinion about them changed. Dorothy fixed the car and left the officer almost speechless so he gave them a police escort to work. Mary Jackson then stated “ three negro women are chasing a white police officer down the highway in 1961. That is a God-ordained miracle.” These three women stood by each other through everything. Another occurrence is when Mrs.mitchell asked for the person with the best computing skills and Dorothy Vaughn offered Katherine instead of herself. Dorothy Vaughn went to extreme heights to teach herself how to program the machine she feared would take her job. When they offered her to run the area, she refused to take it unless they also took her girls. She put everyone before herself no matter what it cost her she wanted everyone to get ahead, not just herself.There was a few bumps in the road for dorothy at Nasa, most of them coming from Mrs. Mitchell who carped at her most the time. Mrs. Mitchell claimed to not have any issues with Dorothy or her kind, nobody truly believed it. But towards the end you see that Mrs.Mitchell, like most people, turned around.
