“Media Assessment Project”
1-I choose two movies that deal with mental illness/psychological disorder.
The first movie is called “Still Alice” by Julianne Moore
At the age of fifty, she fulfilled her goals and she had a career even with her three children. Alice gave a presentation and that is when she had complications to remember what she had to say then she thought, that it was because she drank champagne. Then she went out to run and begins with symptoms like forgetting names, words and she spelled out when she went running she forget where she was. Movies and television shows are a great factor that influences a good and bad way in the lives of adolescents and children. Movies can help you to have a role model in one's life. An example is if a person has difficulties or is going through similar things to the movies they will feel identified. Maybe, they would feel that watching a movie it's going to make them find a solution. I consider at Alice and Lydia her daughter in “Still Alice” a positive role model because even when Alice lost her memory completely she give herself instructions so that other people didn't have a hard time dealing with Alice’s disease and that took a lot of courage. Lydia also had difficulties She gave up many things to support her mother. She lived in another city and she moved to take care of her mother and support her in all the circumstances that were necessary. Those two characters were a positive role model in my perspective because they try their best on support each other while knowing the difficulties. “The boy in the striped pajamas "was one of my role models since I was a child. This movie helped me to learn what is right and wrong and also how to behave and to respect everyone else. The reason is that racism was seen as injustice and people did not approve other religions. An example would be the film of "Still Alice" where the woman has Alzheimer's and that gives us an example of how difficult it would be to have that disease or the complications that the family goes through when having a sick family member and gives us a clear and stressful idea of what happens on a daily basis and how to deal with it.
