One hundred senators represent the United States of America, but one in particular has received a surprising amount of attention. Elizabeth Warren is serving out her first term as a senator, but many consider her one of the most significant democratic figures of the current time. She toured with Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign and is now a recognizable democrat. The media does an accurate job portraying the Senator and her strengths. However, Elizabeth Warren has gained negative coverage due to one scandal. After this tweet, multiple news sources listed her accomplishments and condemned President Trump for allowing this kind of banter on social media. For example, “Anyone who knows who Senator Warren knows that “weak” and “ineffective” are the last words to describe her. This description of her heritage caused an uproar since some people believed that Elizabeth Warren was lying and using the claim to her advantage. Numerous media organizations called for Warren to provide proof. Research into this controversy revealed this claim was not true. “A genealogist at the New England Historic Genealogical Society had said there was documented evidence that Warren was 1/32 American Indian, alluding to a family newsletter that had indicated her great-great-great grandmother was Cherokee, the Boston Globe reported early in the controversy.
