Rising sea levels, melting ices in the Arctic and Antarctica seem pretty familiar to people whenever mentioning about Global Warming. But rarely of them aware that Global Warming could bring about many profound consequences directly to human beings such as dangerous climate change-related diseases, catastrophes, ecosystem failure and even war just because of the diminution of natural resources. Having said that, Global Warming is no longer a typical environment issue. It is now a worldwide pressing problem that everyone should have some particular consciousnesses about it. Cultivation theory was developed by Professor George Gerbner and Larry Gross in 1970s, stating that television has a gradual long-term effect on viewers’ perception of reality, behaviors and beliefs. Actually, there was a movie called The Day After Tomorrow released in 2004 represents climatic effects leading to the end of the world. In 2009, once again, Roland Emmerich produced a movie with a doomsday topic- “2012”. But until the year of 2012, many articles, videos, images about 21/12/2012 is exactly the end of the world day, audiences who spend a lot of time on television and means of communication started to panic, concerned due to the overwhelmed information that media transported to them, some of whom even did the same what they had seen like constructed shelters, prepared for medical and food supplies, etc.
Having brought up the two cases from the above and all the data about the connection between Global Warming and Media, there is no room for doubt that Global Warming is a worldwide pressing issue and media plays a vital role in its consequences. As good as it may seem but humans are still the ones who control this problem, not the media. Let the media support your notion to resolve Global Warming effectively, do not let it control all your thinking and make you even more confused or
