How did World War 2 impact the development of medicine and military technologies?
Many different types of medicines and military technologies were drastically improved upon or invented during the second world war (1939-1945). During World War 2, huge medical advances took place. The war naturally gave a push to the medical world to advance in medicines that would save many lives. They made treatments for soldiers who has had severe wounds. Those treatments fell under a new class of drugs called Sulfanilamide1, which provided effective treatments for bacterial diseases like pneumonia and meningitis. During World War 2, huge medical advances took place. The war naturally gave a push to the medical world to advance in medicines that would save many lives. They made treatments for soldiers who has had severe wounds. Those treatments fell under a new class of drugs called Sulfanilamide1, which provided effective treatments for bacterial diseases like pneumonia and meningitis. One of the safest and active antibacterial available, Penicillin, was a huge medical advancement that was invented during the war. Another huge medicine that was refined over the years during World War 2 was the prevention of tetanus. Plasma and Morphine -as a pain killer- were also important uses during World War 2. These medicines have continued to save lives and prevent illnesses since the war and will continue through the future. Other huge advancements that took place during World War Two were military technologies. In order to maintain a competitive edge over the enemy, it was crucial to have continual advancements in technology. For example, the invention and utilization of radars and bombsights are extremely important. The attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 could have been prevented with the correct use of the radar. Aircraft development, semi-automatic rifles and assault rifles were used frequently throughout the war and it was very important.
