Melina Sordino and David Petrakis have the most inspiring quotes in the book. David is one of the few people that treat Melinda decently. His quote from the beginning of chapter 27 (First Amendment) is indicating that every citizen of any country should all have the same rights. David is mostly directly saying this to their teacher, Mr. Neck. Mr. Neck is supposedly opening a debate in the class that is related to “America should have closed her borders in 1900” (27.9).
