A little girl left on the doorsteps of childhood, growing, becoming her own person, living life for what it's worth. takes the turn to the worse parts of life. That little girl, Melinda Sordino, had barely just started her life when she was already silenced
She had friends, people, and a safe space until a senior named Andy Evans attacked her one night and turned the little girl into less of a human. Melinda felt unloved and was destroyed after what happened that one summer night at the party. she stopped speaking.

The quote shows that Melinda didn't know what was going, on and how she was silenced by her fear. after that night Melinda could never speak.
During period three Melinda untwines everything, She finally speaks after being quiet for so long. She had no love for herself and thought she was dirty because of what happened to her. She realizes that it wasn't her fault, non of it was. Andy Evans is a bad person and everyone agrees. she is not alone anymore, she was heard, and taken for her word. That's when it hit her. People believed her, The one thing she never thought anyone would ever do.
Melinda's 14-year-old self enters high school silence by Andy Evans, he's “IT” the monster that took her innocents that one summer night.

Melinda feeling all this emotional pain and it's not because she's a teenager and going through seasonal depression, it's because of andy Evans, the hot greek goddess looking senor that dance with her at that party, the dancing with the “greek goddess” soon lead to Melinda mouth being cover and she wasn't able to, yell, scream, or even speak
Although many of us cant relate to Melinda's rape, we all know what it's like to have those friends in high school, and have teachers hating you for no reason. Melinda went through much more but we can connect our lives to her in many different ways.
Melinda goes through hard times with her parents, she starts to look at her body differently, and she wanted to fit in but could never push herself. Those are things we all have gone through, cried about it, and even look back on it now and see how stupid we were to hate ourselves so much, Everyone has lived at least one of those
