As you watch the movie, Memento the more confused you get as the movie goes on. If you do not watch, it with someone who has seen it already you will be as lost as a needle in a haystack. This movie can be compared to Inception, a movie about dreams. You don’t know what’s really going on until the end of the movie. In the movie Inception, he is trying to reconnect with his wife in the dream world. The movie Memento the main character Leonard puts in his mind that his wife was raped and murdered in a home invasion. In both movies they are trying to avenge their wives. When watching the memento you see a black and white scenes. Not only are they flashback but they are flashbacks moving in chronological order leading up to the present scene. This area of the movie is something that should have been better explained throughout or rewritten while directing. It’s too confusing watching because when you see the first black and white scene you think it is before the incident with his wife. As you watch how he is talking on the phone, he seems to be having a normal conversation. It looks like he is remembering lots of information about the past until he removes the Band-Aid from his tattoo spot telling him “Never Answer the Phone.” After seeing this your mind has to quickly adjust, knowing that this event is after his wife incident and he has the memory condition. The scenes in color had two meanings to it one being what happing now and the other what happened leading up to it. They could have use a different type of special effect for the scenes taking place in before an event happens. Doing that it would be much easier for the viewer to follow as the movie proceeds. Every few minutes the reverse order sequence is a cut by a chronological sequence. In order for the film to remain easier to follow, the producer uses editing. Although he does that the name of the movie could also be named around his memory condition. It should be named around that than the picture taken because the only time we see him take the pictures are in flashback or events leading up to something. Throughout the movie, he already has the pictures of everyone and places. The movie could also be call Split Second since his memory goes away very quick and only has short amount of seconds to remember what is happening. With this type of title is kind of foreshadow his memory condition, but also can mislead the viewers a little. With this type of title, it would consider that you are getting ready to watch an action
