Memorizing The Creed (An analysis of how memorizing things helped me in life) Many times, we learn things that we think have no use in our life. We soon realize that this useless information may help us later in life. In my junior year of highschool I was enrolled in English three. We had an assignment to memorize a poem from a book that we read. Then we had to recite the poem word by word in front of the class. I struggled with memorizing the entire poem, but I soon learned it by heart. I recited it back to the class and got a perfect grade on it. Memorizing the poem later helped me learn the Soldier’s Creed because I have now enlisted in the U.S. Army. The poem I learned helped me learn the proper way to memorize the Soldier’s creed. I would learn the useless poem by memorizing one line at a time a day. I did the same thing learning the Soldier’s Creed and I learned it in no time. The skills I learned from memorizing the useless poem greatly helped me memorize a creed that I would need to know later in my life. The second reason it helped me is because it taught me to memorize text quickly. Using my skills I had already learned from memorizing text properly, I could now begin to learn text at a faster pace. Both the poem I learned and the Soldier’s Creed are about the same length. Because I had already learned how to memorize a poem, I learned the Soldier’s Creed very quickly.
