The Mental health of a Canadian teen is heavily impacted by the internet causing body dysmorphic and other illnesses and can also lead people to hear something you didnt say but there are benefits to the internet, for example, you can use the internet for school work or for any questions you may have whether its health reasons or just an inquiry

One of the issues that communicating with the internet presents is when there is information you didn't quite get/understand you will fill in the information. There is also the uncertainty that someone is actually paying attention to you when you are speaking because you can't be sure if people are on their phone because they may have their camera off or they just might have their phone out of the frame of the camera. There is also the issue of a lack of social cues. Someone might look uneasy or have a change of body language when talking about a topic, these cues can help you identify how that person feels about that topic but online it is often missed or absent making it difficult to identify how they feel about that topic. People are also growing dependent on the internet and some may not even speak to people unless it is with the internet because they don't want the interaction which can put their in-person communication skills in …show more content…

Body dysmorphia is a condition where one focuses too much on the “flaws” of one’s appearance we can see this most in the generation known as gen z because of the beauty standards proposed by social media. These “standards” make people think/believe that if they do not fit into these standards then they aren’t pretty or handsome the most prominent example for females is the belief that they have to think and be skinny and for guys is that they have to be strong and muscular. Such beliefs can cause mental health issues such as depression, OCD, low family relationships and anxiety later on in life these mental illnesses can cause serious health complications if not treated early. The internet can also cause sleep deprivation, hearing loss, blurred vision, high blood pressure neck and back pain etc. These health complications are caused by isolating yourself from the world and making a world that revolves around the internet this is because when you are on your phone/electronic devices you brain releases a chemical called dopamine which makes you feel happy as long as you are on your device, But after you get off your device the dopamine stops and then you fell mad, sad or even empty like you were before you were on you phone/internet this is what causes people to think that the need their phone and soon it just becomes an edition which causes people to start letting themselves go for example not eating, not going
