One thing that is different about the movie is the time period. The movie version is very different from the book because it is more modern. Instead of swords there are guns, and there are cars. In the movie the prince is the chief of police. Another example is that instead of gold there was money. Verona looks like a present-day city. Another thing that is different about the movie is the characters. They dressed differently than the characters in the book. For example, Mercutio was dressed like a “woman” and wore a wig and makeup. Mercutio was not portrayed as a African-American in the book but in the movie he was.
