Egypt and Mesopotamia were early river valley civilizations that developed along different river valleys. The Egyptian civilization developed along the Nile river, and Mesopotamia was land between Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Egypt and Mesopotamia have some similarities, but both had many significant differences in their cultures, economics, society and politics.

Egypt and Mesopotamia have significant differences in their politics. Egypt was more

stable with a unified government and one ruler called Pharaoh. Early Egyptian civilizations do not witness many internal conflicts. All the small states were unified to form a centralized government. In Mesopotamia, there was no centralized government

instead, they had city states. Each of this city states their own political leaders. The different city states often get into conflicts resulting to many of their citizens to migrate. The pharaohs were seen as very powerful people. The pharaohs required the citizens to build tombs in the shape of pyramids to mummify their bodies when they die. These pyramids were very important to Egyptian culture and civilization. Mesopotamians do not worship or build thumbs for their leaders, but they made other objects(figuring’s) to worship and pray.

The social structures and cultures of both civilizations were quite different. In Egyptian civilization, the upper-class women had some value in society. They were treated with respect,they could rule and often had some political influences. In Mesopotamia, women were treated less, women were valued as the property of men, and had no voice in society. Egypt and Mesopotamia were both similar in their social caste levels. The peasants in both civilizations were the lowest in the caste system and the land-owners were top of the caste
