American imperialism, specifically in economics and politics, altered the course of Latin America’s potential successes. Economic imperialism, in typical cases, increases the global production, trade, and consumption of goods, while political imperialization forms and expresses new ideologies or styles of government to promote societal growth. Through America’s journey of imperialization and expansion, the United States influenced Latin America’s political systems, but also hindered economic growth through excessive regulation. His vision noticed that Venezuela was not just European or Indian, but that it was a unique blend of natives and Spaniards. He claimed that the people of Venezuela were Americans by birth and Europeans by right. Bolivar noticed the hardships Venezuela faced while attempting to gain its independence and how those hardships seemed to be greater and more frequent than when his people were treated as less than slaves by Spain. He claimed that Venezuela was saved from active tyranny in Spain by the United States, but also that America deprived Venezuela of the opportunity to learn and become familiar with public affairs. According to Bolivar, the American people were held under a trio of ignorance, tyranny, and immorality by Britain, which kept them from acquiring power, knowledge, and virtues to pass on. It is a wonder that North America was so successful because the people come from such diverse backgrounds. Bolivar knew that it would be impossible to directly copy a form of government and apply it to Venezuela to produce the exact same benefits as the system had in its original
