The long,bloody wars that America has encountered are faced with many conflicts.One of the wars that America has gone to is the Mexican American War. It’s 1846, and many schisms has been between Mexico and America with the problem of arguing over Texas. Mexico had originally owned Texas but Texas wanted to annex itself over to the U.S. But there are other reasons why America went to war and these reasons are they killed one-half of the U.S. troops, threatened us for crossing their border, annexation, and invasion. They owned Texas, and most of the West, including California. Mexico first open its doors to settlers from the East and West to increase the population of any empty lands. More and more people began to settle with the fact that there was plenty of land and rich soil to farm. This encouraged American farmers to settle in Mexican province of Texas. Before this, Mexico had a rule that all the people must follow their religion and since this state is an anti-slaved there were to be no slaves allowed. “ decreed the abolition of human slavery within her dominions…” (Doc D) Texans didn’t like this idea so they sent a letter to the U.S. Congress saying they wanted annexation.” The Congressman said “no” because they didn’t want to anger Mexican officials. “The invasion was threatened solely because Texas had determined to annex itself to our Union.” ( Doc B) When Mexico heard about this they were angry but the U.S. had its eye on California and Texas and wanted it to be part of their state. On the twenty-fourth of April, sixty-three men and officers, were dispatched from the American camp up the Rio del Norte, on its North bank, to ascertain whether Mexican troops had crossed, or were preparing to cross the river. They became engaged with the large body of these Mexicans troops, and, after a short affair, in which sixteen American soldiers were killed or wounded, appear to have been surrounded and compelled to surrender. America tried to every effort to reconcile,but Mexico had barged into our territory without an invite and killed American soldiers on American soil.( Doc B) One quote stated, “nations have undertaken… hostile and interference against us.
