There was a war between the U.S and Mexico in 1846-1848, Texas and Mexico got into a disagreement over which border would be Texas’s, the U.S wanted the Rio Grande and Mexico wanted the Nueces River.
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war between the U.S. and Mexico. This war was initiated by the United States and resulted in Mexico 's defeat and the loss of nearly 60 percent of its territory in the north. In the U.S. the war is termed the Mexican–American War, also known as the Mexican War, the U.S.–Mexican War or the Invasion of Mexico. In Mexico names for the war include Primera intervención estadounidense en México, Guerra de la Invasión estadounidense, and Guerra del 1847. Nonetheless, the Mexican American War was unjust because of President Polk’s thirst for more territory.

On April 25th 1846 after the annexation of Texas American soldiers went to the borders by Texas and went to guard it. Mexico had a different perspective however and saw that the United States were crossing their borders and attacked them. This caused a lot of conflicts which lead to the Mexican American War. I believe that America was not justified with going to war with Mexico because of how Mexico did not accept the annexation of Texas, Mexico defending their land and US invading it, the last reasons is what Mexico did not accept slavery but Americans ignored this rule.

The relationship between the North and the South was stable at the start of the 1800’s, but rapidly deteriorated over their conflicting views on slavery. In order to keep a balance of power, the Union consisted of an equal number of free and slave states.

One of the toughest adjustments, having been born to Mexican parents, is migrating to an unknown country where traditions and languages differ from one 's own. Though many pursue an education and strive for a better life, the purpose behind an immigrant, like myself, differs from the typical American. Immigrants strive for a life that was once impossible, going to school is not only to attain an education, but to better prove that we can also become successful regardless of our traditions and skin color. I lived in a country for over fifteen years, fearing deportation, not only losing a home, but potentially saying goodbye to a bright future. Although many feel empathy for Mexican-Americans, it is undeniably difficult to truly comprehend the immense trauma children and even adults undergo upon experiencing racism and prejudice.
Las Vegas is where I was born and raised. That doesn’t mean that I just gave up on my Mexican culture. Like many others, I have a culture that is both American and Mexican. My culture has shaped my values, perceptions, and behaviors. The culture of my family, community, and society has made who I am as a person in numerous ways.
The United States war with Mexico continues to be a divisive topic among many people because of its background. The Mexican-American war was a fight between Mexico and America for land. America’s belief at the time was Manifest Destiny, which meant that they believed that America should extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific ocean. I’m the first generation of my family to be Mexican -American, but I have been introduced to the Mexican culture since I was born. I appreciate the difficulties my parents have faced to make me the person that I am today even though I wasn’t born in Mexico my parents have taught me the language and the culture which I’m so proud of being part of. For others being Hispanic is actually being born in any Latin American countries which is not true at all. Being Hispanic is much more than my cultural background it actually describes how much I appreciate my culture and how I get to experience things other people don’t. I fit into the Hispanic community through the experiencing the culture first hand ,participating in traditions and planning to include my culture in my future.

I will be more focused on the other side of the border and express my findings about the Mexican culture in Mexico. Mexican. It seems like the only word I can use to clearly describe the world I come from would be Mexican. I was born in Mexico and lived there for a measle four years before my mother decided to follow my father’s footsteps and leave our home behind in search for better opportunities and come to America. We originally moved to Charlotte, North Carolina; during our time here we faced many hardships. When we arrived we did not know a lick of English; therefore, the rather white city we lived in judged us constantly whenever we spoke Spanish or made the effort to communicate with them in English.
