Also, Jackson would attain this not just through his songs, but also through his individuality and self expression. His poem states, “People ask me how I make music. I tell them I just/ step into it. It’s like stepping into a river and joining the flow” (“How I Make Music”). Also, Jackson wonders if we are alone;this is what Jackson is implying when he wrote about “Planet Earth”. “Planet Earth, my home, my place.../ A minor globe, about to bust.../A lonely spaceship, a large asteroid.” (“Planet Earth”). This is of importance because it shows what Jackson is trying to get across in this line of the poem which is that Planet Earth is just basically a speck of dust sailing around in the sea of space. In “Planet Earth he has also articulated the fact that Earth is not held together with much. “Held together with a bit of glue/ Something tells me it isn’t true.”(“Planet Earth”).
