Michael Naymond's Behaviors

The overall behaviors and relationships between Naymond and Michael have changed drastically. Michael has always come across as shy, innocent and tends to keep to himself. Naymond on the other hand tends to resolve conflicts with violence and at times is very outspoken. Throughout the season I believe that these two characters almost swop personalities and attitudes toward the conclusion of season four. A scene that demonstrates Naymond being outspoken where Michael is not, falls within episode five of season four. This scene starts off in Professor Prez classroom where the group of boys are located. A few class members have gathered around the window to watch Mrs. D. shake bushes. Episode four of season four has a great observation has to how the two boys can acquire the same traits. The setting for this is in Cutty’s gym where Michael Naymond and Dukie are hanging out. Naymond starts to make threats towards Dukie. Dukie is constantly backing up form Naymond but ends up telling him to leave him alone. After Dukie proclaims to tell Naymond that he just wants to be left alone Naymond continues to poke and make fun of him. Michael notices the boys having this conversation and end up shoving Naymond telling him that Dukie said he wanted to be left alone so leave him alone. After Michael reprimanded Nayond, he said well I’m just saying and Michael responds by saying “That’s all you ever do, just say” (5:55). By Michael expressing his opinion about Naymond’s actions means that he is willing to voice his inner feelings rather than just keep them to himself. Also by Michael administering a little shove on Naymond can also allow us to conclude that Michael is willing to use violence as a problem solving strategy if need be. Naymond showed his violent and outspoken side when he continued to threaten Dukie and when he repetitively had a response for the things that Michael was telling
