Michigan jobs needs skilled workers, but about 221,500 Michiganders within the age group of 25 to 44 do not have GED or high school diploma. Since 2004, less than 7% of workforce enrolled their name in adult education. Employment projection shows that by 2020 seventy percent of jobs in Michigan will demand some level of postsecondary education. It is also reflected in report that any individual with an associate degree or "some college" has better earnings ($31,209 versus $25,648) than any other person with only a high school diploma.
Current demand of skill trade: Online advertisement shows that skill trades related to general maintenance workers, welders, cutter, carpenters, machinists, electricians, mechanics, and tool and die makers are in demand by the employer. With very few exceptions like brick masons, almost all the skilled trade occupations report job growth over the year. Some of the certificates and skills preferred by the employer are:
• Preventative Maintenance
• LEAN Manufacturing
• Occupational Safety and Health
• Quality Control
• Electrical Systems
• Environmental Protection Standards

During this period, about 4,000 annual job openings are expected in the Skilled Trades, with about 1000 vacancies resulting from growth and rest 3000 coming from the replacement of existing workers. According to analyst ,it is expected that construction industries likely to increase ,where as auto sector will remain stable and manufacturing sector may fall little by 2020.Hence opportunity for skilled trade will vary according to the industry related occupation. In this sector there will be also demand of highly educated and trained persons in addition to skill trade
