Technology, specifically the CCTV footage, the Deng video and an autopsy, played a limited role in securing the conviction of Mick Hawi. Despite that all technologies provided information of those involved and what happened during the incident, the information was contradicting, CCTV footage CCTV footage played a limited role in securing Mick Hawi’s conviction as the CCTV cameras were not present at the location of the incident. Although, CCTV cameras nearby the location recorded the movements of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club (CMC) and Hells Angels (HA) surrounding Gate 5. The cameras show Anthony and Peter Zervas moving towards the group of CMC members. The CMC were also following other HA members in front of them. Hawi retreated back twice before the deceased runs in to attack him. Insufficient CCTV cameras at the location of the fight, not only makes it impossible to know what happened during the incident. Deng and her associates Zhu and Xi Luo were located around 25m away from the scene. This created issues with identifying those in the video as well as what took place during the incident. The footage taken depicted two men - one wearing white clothing (Hawi) standing next to another wearing dark clothing with his arms raised to hit the deceased with a bollard. After the attack, the video shows the perpetrator (man in black) descending out of view and Hawi moving towards the centre exit. Knowing that the attack occurred for approximately 35 seconds, the video only lasts for 16 seconds, which indicates Deng only began filming towards the end of the incident. By filming towards the end of the incident, it is hard to tell if anything happened before or after the attack and creates inconsistencies in evidence between the Deng video and all witnesses present during the
