The exposition is set in Athens, Greece, there is a mix of love, fear and success in the town. Hippolyta and Theseus are preparing for their lavish wedding. Lysander and Hermia are in love, and Demetrius is in love with a woman named Hermia. There is a girl named Helena, who is single. In the rising action, Hermia and Lysander are in love, but Egeus wants Hermia to be married to Demetrius instead, so he gets someone named Theseus to push for their marraige. Hermia and Lysander decide to run away, and Helena discoveres this. She was once together with Demetrius, but he left, however she is still in love with him. Because of this she tells Demetrius their plans to run away in hopes he will come back to her. They all run into a forest near them, in which the fairy queen and king (Titania and Oberon). They were fighting over a boy taken from Oberon, so in attempt to seek revenge he orders another fairy to feed Titiana a love potion, which will make her fall in love with whomever she sees first. He was also told to put the love potion into Demetrius' eyes so that he would love Helena back. The fairy, Puck, accidentally places the potion into Lysanders' eyes instead of Demetrius', so Lysander falls in love with Helena. Their plan had worked with Titania, though, and she had fallen in love with a peasent with the head of a donkey. Puck later discovers his mistake and tries to ix it by putting the potion into Demetrius' eyes. In the climax, Demetrius finally falls in love with Helena after Puck tries to fix his mistake and gives him the love potion. Helena believes Lysander and Demetrius are mocking her, and does not understand. Hermia begins to argue with Helena and accuses her for stealing Lysander from her. In attempt to protect her Lysander and Demetrius try to protect Helena from Hermia, but end up fighting
