“The course of love never did run smooth”

In the Midsummer Night’s Dream, love isn’t easy to live out, there is always that one person or event that places an obstacle in its path. Shakespeare portrays love through a series of obstacles, suffering and heartbreak. It is almost rare to see a couple that didn’t face barriers throughout the course of their love story. One will find that almost all the couples face and overcome the obstacle in order to live out their love. Truly, the course of love never did run smooth as shown through the relationships of Hermia and Lysander as well as Titania and Oberon in the Midsummer Night’s dream.
