William Golding is going for a more savage look in the novel for example the plane that the children are on crashes and it kills the pilot. The children end up waking up from the crash and are stranded on an island. At first, the beast is nothing more than a product of the boys ' imaginations. The smaller boys are afraid of things they see at night; rather than be blindly afraid of The Great Unknown, they give their fear a name and a shape in their minds. The boys fear the beast not even realizing that the are committing the evil actions of the beast. Only Simon reaches the final realization of what the beast for what it truly is, their own evil existing inside of them when he says “Maybe there is a beast… maybe it 's only us.”.
Have you ever wondered what would happen to a group of young children if they were stuck on an island with no adult? This is the exact scenario that was depicted in William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies. Children from the age of six to fourteen unexpectedly crash land on a deserted island, with no adult to assist them. No one has any idea whatsoever about whether they will be rescued or not. Some of these boys take a step forward to keep order between their minuscule population.
The beast is first introduced to the boys early on in their time on the island when the crash acts as a scar to the boys and there is still a state of innocence in everyone. Piggy illustrates the boy with the mulberry-colored birthmark fears to the others (as he is too shy to speak on his own) his discovery of something else existing on the island to the entire assembly, “Tell us about the snake-thing... The characters are frightened of the alleged beast, but only Simon reaches the realization that they fear the beast because it lives inside all of them. As the characters. As the boys grow more brutal, their belief in the beast grows ever stronger.. At the closing of the novel, the boys are abandoning the sacrifices and treating it as a spiritual god. The boy 's personalities is what carries the beast into reality, so the more brutality the the boys act, the more realistic the beast seems to manifest.
As the boys on the island go from well-behaved, children waiting for someone to rescue them to, bloodthirsty hunters who have no desire to return to civilization, they lose the sense of innocence that they had at the beginning of the book. The boys who took Jack’s side and became savages, become evil towards the end of the book. The Lord of the Flies opens your eyes to see the capabilities of evil in all things. All of the boys on the island are tempted by evil, but Ralph, Piggy, Simon and SamnEric don't give in.
Thesis Statement: In Lord of the Flies William Golding throughout the book is trying to show you that society should recognize man is evil. Introduction Paragraph: In the book Lord of the Flies the author William Golding shows a group of boys losing their innocence throughout their life stuck on this inhabited island in the pacific ocean.
