Military Entrance Score Analysis

I plan to enlist in the military, either in the Marines or the Air Force. I took the ASVAB last year and scored a Military Entrance Score (AFQT) of 66. Using this score and the physical training I’ve been completing, so I plan to be accepted easily. One thing I’m interested in doing is applying to COD in order to receive the title of officer. This title allows me to have one step above most other recruits, making me stand out a little more. Being able to stand out is key to students who are applying to places that receive several applicants and have to compete against the all for a spot. As a kid we barely scraped by eating cheap dollar items while trying to live properly. We relied greatly on friends and their support through our struggles. My mom decided she wanted no more children after me due to this, but birth control and other methods she tried did not work. In the end there are now six of us kids and that creates a huge bill. My mom wants to support me and do her best to give me everything I want, but there are limits to what one woman can do. No one else in my family has actually gone to college with leaves me with uncertainty and confusion. I know what I want but there is the process to getting it. I’ve done extended research thinking about what I want to do, but it always leads back to the military and helping others. Parts of my family were in the military and loved what they did. My great grandfather was a truck driver and them fought in World War two and vietnam. With his legacy I want to follow in his footsteps. My parents support my decision so I can keep our family 's pride. This is why I beg with you for the DHS Scholarship. This dream of mine means the world to me, I want to make my family proud.
